The Lions of King's College fought valiantly against the Eagles of CSE but to no avail. The Eagles serving game was too much for the Lions and the Eagles showed yet again the killer instinct that they had in the last three sets versus Bryn Athyn.
CSE started off a bit slow in the first set, netting 4 serving errors in the first 7 rotations which kept the Lions close early. However, behind the serving of Rachel Hausler and Amy Cooper, the team soon regained full control of the match and closed it out with a 13-3 to finish with a comfortable 25-9 win.
Set 2 was more of the same, with CSE dictating the tempo of the match with their serving game and offense. CSE was very efficient on offense which allowed the team to stay aggressive on all phases of the game. The Eagles followed a .388 hitting % in the first set with a 12 kill, .241 hitting % effort in the second to close it out rather easily 25-13.
The third set saw the Lions take an early lead at 6-3 but the serving game of Rachel Hausler yet again was key as it took the Lions out of their offensive offensive system and allowed for easy swings by the offense. CSE dominated the set late and closed out the set and match at 25-12.
Rachel Hausler was a major key to the success as she hit for 8 aces with no errors from the service line to pace the team. Amy Cooper chipped in 4 aces for the Eagles and added 21 assists to the cause. Kareemah Muhammad and Katie Cooper combined for 15 kills while Subhana Wrights added 8 kills of her own out of the middle and combined for 5 blocks with teammate and captain Chanice Sears who also added 3 kills.
The Eagles go to PS Berks to play four matches in Conference Play this weekend.
