CSE OPENS NEAC WEEKEND WITH A WIN

The Screaming Eagles opened the NEAC weekend with a win versus the SUNY Cobleskill squad in a tight 4 set match.  CSE opened up the match aggressive but wild as numerous passes, serves and attacks were not finding the court.  SUNY however was much more efficient in those areas and took control of the match early, winning the set easily, 25-14.

The 2nd set was a drastic improvement for the Eagles as the team’s passing became more consistent.  CSE put down 13 kills in the set to only 7 errors and pulled away at the midpoint of the set to cruise to a 25-16 win.

The 3rd set was a tight battle as both teams traded points throughout most of the set.  CSE began to pull away late but Cobleskill hung on and cut the lead to 1 at 24-23 before the Eagles closed it out.  The Eagles put down another 12 kills but only committed 5 errors which became the difference in the set.

The final set saw a CSE squad take over the match early and never really relinquish the 5 point cushion it built early.  The offense was outstanding thanks to the passing game and great defense the team played to shut down SUNY.  CSE took the set and match 25-20.

Kareemah Muhammad was the team’s kill leader pounding out a career high 14 kills while Subhana Wrights put down 12 kills, also a career high, and added 3 blocks.  Rachel Hausler led the team defensively with 17 digs while Amy Cooper dished out a season high 36 assists.
