EAGLES BEAT MACCABEES TO EARN RECORD SETTING VICTORY

Saint Elizabeth took on the Maccabees of Yeshiva University on Senior Night and came away with a 25-14, 25-10, 25-15 historic 17th win of the season, the most in program history.

The Maccabees started off successfully attacking the Eagles out of the middle and took an 11-10 lead nearing the midpoint of the match.  After a block and a kill by Subhana Wrights and a Katie Cooper ace, CSE took control back of the match at 13-11.  After a Maccabee timeout, the Eagles went on a 12-4 run to close out the set easily at 25-14.

The Eagles started the 2nd set off on a 13-1 run behind 4 kills by Katie Cooper, 2 aces by sister Amy Cooper and 2 kills and 2 blocks by Subhana Wrights.  Yeshiva University could not recover and the Eagles raced on to a 25-10 set win.

The 3rd set was more of the same for the Eagles as the Saint Elizabeth defense and offense were working seamlessly to open up an 11-3 score to start the match.  Kills by 4 different players and 2 more aces by Katie Cooper fueled this run.  Misato Oya got her first 2 kills of the season and Amanda Inacio hit for her first ace of the season in the back end of the set as multiple players helped in closing the set 25-15.

Katie Cooper led the squad with 15 kills, hit for 5 aces and 4 digs.  Subhana Wrights hit for an astounding .817 with 10 kills out of 11 attempts and added 3 blocks (2 solo).  Kiara Francisco continued her recent hot streak with 4 kills out of 6 attempts.  Amy Cooper dished out 30 assists and added a team leading 6 aces and 10 digs.

Saint Elizabeth goes on the road for the next 3 matches at Lancaster Bible College as the team takes on Morrisville State at 9pm on Friday, October 19 and on Saturday, October 20, CSE takes on Wells College at 1pm and SUNY IT 5 pm in the last 3 matches of the NEAC conference.
