The CSE Screaming Eagles Volleyball Team earned a 3-0 victory versus the King's College Lions earlier today at home to get them to within 1 win of .500 at 15W-16L.
CSE relied on the serving of Chanice Sears, who led the team with 4 aces, and Katie Cooper who had 3 aces to pace a 10 ace attack that took the Lions out of the game at key points in the game. Katie Cooper and Kareemah Muhammad paced the offense with key kills at various points in the match and tallied 27 kills to only 13 errors for the match. Rachel Hausler led the defensive charge with a perfect 30/30 on serve receive, 19 digs and an amazing 2.6 pass rating. The Eagle offense was also solid out of the middle with Subhana Wrights and Chanice Sears hitting for 13 kills and only 3 errors and added 3 blocks. Misato Oya was outstanding from the service line, going 8/8 and adding 6 digs to the Eagle effort.
The Eagles took a 20-20 score in set 1 and went on dominant 5-1 run that featured 3 kills and 1 ace to close out the set. In set 2, the Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back as CSE extended the lead to 20-10 and closed the set on 5-3 run. The third set was a close set throughout with numerous ties between the two teams. With the score tied at 19, the Eagles went on a 4-0 run in large part due to the efforts of Subhana Wrights and Kareemah Muhammad in the front row that gave CSE a 23-19 lead they would not relinquish.
CSE goes for a school record setting 16th win and .500 record against Medgar Evers later on this snowy afternoon.
