EAGLES AVENGE LOSS TO DOLPHINS IN 2010 AND TIE RECORD

The College of Saint Elizabeth Screaming Eagles tied the record for highest number of wins in the program's history with a victory tonight against the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island.  The Eagles avenged a hard fought 2010 loss to these same Dolphins.

The Eagles came out of the gate fast and never looked back in set one as CSE's passing, defense, serving game and attack was nearly perfect from the start.  The team won the set 25-17 and hit for 12 kills in the process.

The second set proved to be more difficult as the Dolphins finally began to find their offense and kept the Eagles from pulling away.  CSE held a slim 18-17 lead when, after a timeout by the Dolphins,  the Eagles went on a 4-0 run to push CSE to a more comfortable 22-17 lead.  The Eagles had to fight back one more Dolphin surge but in the end, the Eagles earned a well-deserved 25-21 set victory.  Although the Eagles suffered through some serving woes,  the CSE offense was simply stellar.  The Eagles hit for 18 kills in the set and a season high .400 efficiency to overcome the passing errors and serving errors afflicting the team this set.

The third and decisive set was another tight battle but the Eagles were in control throughout, maintaining a 2-3 point lead through the entirety of the match.  Although the offense hit for 12 kills again, it was the defensive game and the Eagles' serving that sealed the deal.  The Eagles' defense stepped up in the latter stages of the match to help the team create a cushion and eventually lead to the inevitable set and match point at 25-21.

Subhana Wrights was unstoppable, hitting for a season and career high 15 kills and a .333 efficiency rating.  Kareemah Muhammad and Katie Cooper combined for 18 kills themselves as they kept the The team goes for the school record in wins, for a .500 record and to maintain the hope an NEAC tourney appearance this weekend versus SUNY Morrisville on Saturday at 3pm and SUNY IT on Sunday at 12pm.
